Happy summer everyone…I hope that you all have been enjoying it! I have been busy with work and a couple short (but fun) weekend trips… hence, why this post is so late! As always, I was super excited to get July’s Allure Beauty Box, and it was full of some great products!
Let’s get right into this month’s goodies….
Price: $30 (for a dual lipstick)
Description: “A dual ended intensely pigmented and long-lasting lipstick.”
My Initial Thoughts: I’m totally in love. It’s a beautiful cool tone mauvy-pink nude and a great everyday color. It has a really creamy formula and does actually seem to last for awhile!
My Recommendation: If you are anything like me, and feel like a girl can never have too many lipsticks, then definitely get this! It’s a great lipstick and has quickly become a favorite. I will definitely be purchasing the full-size tube when I go through this trial size. I am looking forward to trying other colors, and I like the fact that they are a dual-ended lipstick since that is great for travel!
Description: “This hydrating sugar lip scrub has plant oils and raw sugar to exfoliate with orange, vanilla, and cinnamon bark essential oils to hydrate and protect lips.”
My Initial Thoughts: This is a pretty nice lip scrub! I’ve used it a couple of times now, and it does smooth out your lips, and they feel very soft. I don’t feel any extra hydration after using it, however.
My Recommendation: My ride or die lip scrub is Mint Julips by Lush, and honestly, I haven’t tried anything that has taken the throne from it yet! This one is nice and is a more fine scrub, so if you are looking for one like that, I would recommend it!
Price: $35 for 4 masks
Where to buy: Feel Beauty
Description: “This mask uses detoxifying charcoal to remove impurities and leave your skin feeling fresh and clean. It’s made of bamboo fiber that’s spun into a fabric, making it an incredible replacement for a facial at the spa.”
My Initial Thoughts: Well, you will look terrifying when you wear it. (See below)
But other than that, it was nice! You can tell that it’s a higher-quality sheet mask just from the texture of the sheet itself, and it felt great on the skin. Right out of the package, it had a pretty intense windex-y type smell….to the point where I was slightly nervous to put it on my face. But alas, in the name of beauty I did.
My Recommendation: I didn’t notice any immediate life-altering changes in my skin after the one use, but honestly, is there a sheet mask out there that does that? (If there is… someone please tell me) My face did feel smooth afterward, and my pores were maybe slightly smaller? Would I buy a pack of these…. probably not. Would I use it again if someone gave it to me? Definitely!
Description: “A weightless blow-dry finishing and heat protectant cream fortified with rosehip, argan, and coconut oils.”
My Initial Thoughts: The cream feels really good in your hair, doesn’t weigh it down, and smells great! I am really LOVING this so far. I honestly think my hair looked smoother and had fewer flyaways/frizz after using this.
My Recommendation: I like it! I think it seemed to work just as well as my current favorite from Kerastase, and I would probably purchase this in the future.
Description: “A concentrated blend of Rosehip, Jojoba and Evening Primrose that works like a serum to give skin a naturally powerful dose of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. In just one use, this anti-aging powerhouse leaves skin hydrated, smooth, and rejuvenated.”
My Initial Thoughts: I didn’t love the smell of this oil right out of the gate. There is something in there that just doesn’t do it for me. It feels nice on the skin, is lightweight, and didn’t make me breakout or do anything weird to my skin.
My Recommendation: If you are looking for a more natural, everyday oil that you can pickup from your local Target or drugstore than I would reccomend this. I wouldn’t say that it’s super inexpensive by any means, but it is definitely less money than some high-end face oils. Did it replace my Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate? Never! We’re in a long-term committed relationship and I just can’t find anything better. (yet)
Description: “Medium control sea salt hair spray for beachy waves.”
My Initial Thoughts: Well, as someone who doesn’t use sea salt sprays, I wasn’t 100% sure what I should be looking for here. It smells really good? It didn’t make my hair feel crusty or sticky in any way? I have very thick, somewhat coarse, straight hair. It generally takes a lot of heat to make my hair curl, and a lot of hairsprays to keep it that way!
My Recommendation: I don’t generally use sea salt sprays on my hair, so I don’t know if I am the best person to give advice on this! I gave my hair a loose curl and then sprayed this in and tried to scrunch it up, and it did make it look somewhat “beachy” so mission accomplished maybe? I am going to try it on my hair when it’s wet and let it air dry, and I will report back if I look like a supermodel.
Description: “Cheek color won’t streak or fade; it’s sweat-proof and weatherproof! Silky powder formula glides over the skin for a subtle wash of color. The sheer powder is buildable for a customized look.”
My Initial Thoughts: This is a really beautiful blush, and I adore the color Bali. I think it would look great on a lot of skin tones. It has a cool sheen to it when the light hits it, but is not chunky or glittery by any means.
My Recommendation: This blush has become top-shelf for me! I keep reaching for it and love the sheen it puts on the cheek. It is perfect for summer and does actually last a long time. I would definitely re-purchase!
What did you all think of July’s box? I thought there were a lot of great products! As always, thanks for reading, and I will report back on August’s box!
